There are several collections of old photographs of Bingham in private hands among Bingham residents and the County Council Libraries, Archives and Information are building up a collection of pictures on their web site Picture the past . In this part of the Photo Library use is made of pictures kindly loaned to BHTA by collectors in the town and there are some from Bingham Library. Others are contemporary photographs taken by BHTA. There are four themes to this part of the site: Farm machinery and implements showing examples of farm tools that were used in Bingham or were probably used here. There is often some doubt about where the pictures were taken even though they are alleged to have come from this part of the world Trades. Here an attempt is made to illustrate some of the trades that were known to have been practiced in Bingham, from the milkman to nineteenth century framework knitters. Bingham people.
Several pictures of people, known or unknown, are available. These not
only illustrate the characters themselves, but the styles of dress that
were prevalent in Bingham in the last 100 years or more. More pictures about Prehistoric, Anglo-Saxon or Roman Bingham can be seen in the Prehistory, Anglo-Saxon or Roman Photo Library. |
