Flint artefacts including scrapers, arrow heads, knives and flakes created during the process of flint knapping have been found all over the parish. They range in age from Palaeolithic to Bronze Age. Many were found during field walking by Trent & Peak Archaeological Unit (University of Nottingham) in ploughed fields adjacent to the Fosse Way and to the south-west of Margidunum. Other items are less common than flints but include some very good polished stone axes.
