The classification of certain invertebrates as “High Priority” is contained within the UK (1995) and Nottinghamshire County(1998) Biodiversity Action Plans. The four-spotted moth is a Red Data Book species, one of the 53 moths listed as requiring high priority attention for conservation in the UK biodiversity Action Plan. The grizzled skipper is listed as High Priority Regionally Important in the Nottinghamshire Biodiversity Action Plan using criteria established by Butterfly Conservation.
