17th century clay pipes. The six bowls here show the progressive change that took place is size and shape through the 17th century. Bowls 27403 and 27364 are both likely to have been used during the Civil War. Most have flat heels, but 27364 has a spur, which came in for the first time during the middle of the 17th century.
