On a lifetime of fishing:

  • There is a little stream there that runs underneath a bridge. When I was small we used to catch tadpoles underneath that bridge and there was quite a lot of water in there then, it was at least a foot deep with very little weed in it. We just used to go and turn the stones over and catch the bullheads. I think this is where it all sparked from, as I was always messing about in water, here, there and everywhere. Eventually it led to a group of lads off the estate going fishing with rod and line when I was about 10 or 11 years old. The very first fish I caught was at Radcliffe, it was a little roach about 3 inches long and that started me off. I have been doing it ever since.
