card. confirms he went to France on 17th July 1915. Enlisted in the Territorials on the 8th January 1912 and spent 14 days at camp in August. He claimed to be 17 but was actually 15. He was embodied (full time) on 5th September 1914 and agreed to serve abroad. |

War Diaries | Quite when and how Tomkinson dies is unclear from the war diary. The war diary for the battalion has no entries for the 22nd or 23rd June 1916. Prior to this the battalion was engaged on various fatigues at Bienvilliers repairing trenches. Several fighting patrols were formed and men sent to examine German positions. The main attack on the German positions came on July 1st. The diary contains a table of losses sustained. | ||
Now listed on Bingham war memorial. Not listed on NCC roll of honour, so not on any other war memorial as far as we know. | |||
