The equivalent RAF form to the attestation record in the army is sparsely
completed.
It notes he was previously in the army, having signed up for four years from
23rd October 1918. He was 19 years and 4 months old when he joined. He transferred
from the Army to join the Royal Flying Corps on 25th March 1918 and was transferred
to the RAF on the day that service was created – 1st April 1918.
His civilian occupation was not given. His next of kin was given as James Cuddy,
Long Acre, Bingham, father.
His height was 5 feet 3 inches and chest 31½”.
He transferred to the RAF reserve on 21st April 1919.
His medical category was A1.

Notes he qualified as a wireless operator in June 1918 and served in Egypt in March 1918. There is a note on the casualty form “Egypt 25-3 18” but no indication of any injury. The wound is noted in the Bingham Roll of Honour.
